Urban Legends

Urban legends are stories told to entertain or scare you. Some urban legends are based on true stories but they stretch the truth a lot. They over exaggerate what really happened. I’m going to tell you about a few urban legends that were interesting to me.

The first urban legend I would like to talk to you about is Candyman. The legend is that if is that if you look at a mirror in your bathroom with the lights turned of and say Candyman five times you see a red glow shaped like a pair of eyes. When you see it, turn the lights on immediately and run to the brightest spot in your house or he will come to kill you. You should try it for yourself and see what happens.

Another urban legend I would like to tell you about is about your hands. This urban legend says that if the right palm of your hand itches you will be getting money soon. It also says that if your left hand itches you will soon be paying out money. So hopefully your right palm will be itching.

My last urban legend is the Madden cover curse. This legend states that whatever player whose picture is on the cover on the EA sports video game are going to have a bad season or be injured. So far it’s been a pattern showing that this urban legend is true. This year the legend Brett Favre is on the cover he holds the record for most consecutive games played and touchdowns. So if he has a drop off in performance or is injured then I will believe it.

There are many urban legends out there. Some are based on the truth others are completely made up. Either way they’re fun stories to hear. Whether you believe them or not is up to you.

Media violence

Media violence affects people in many different ways. People have different reactions when they see media violence. Some people are terrified by media violence. The people who get fearful when they see media violence get paranoid and thinks its going to happen to them. Others media violence doesn’t phase them and it doesn’t affect them at all. Those people have adjusted to the violence and it’s turned them cold hearted. Another group is those who imitate the violence they see in the media. They think they’ll be cool if they do what they see in the media usually children do this. The study of media violence has made me realize that the media can have really bad effects on people especially children.
